Submission Guidelines
Peitho is a peer-reviewed journal of the Coalition of Women Scholars in the History of Rhetoric and Composition. The journal exists to support the Coalition’s mission as a “learned society composed of women scholars who are committed to research in the history of rhetoric and composition.” The journal, like the Coalition, will “promote and foster collaboration and communication” among women in these areas of specialization. Peitho seeks to encourage, advance, and publish original research in the history of rhetoric and composition and thereby support scholars and students within our profession.
Manuscripts should not be previously published or under consideration elsewhere. Manuscripts should bear no identifying information (internal or external) about the author. Manuscripts that are deemed appropriate will be submitted for blind review by external readers.
Formatting: Manuscripts should be submitted as Microsoft Word documents or Rich Text Files. For purposes of review, please include any visual materials as part of the main text. Please also be sure that any links that are included are still live.
Please include a running head that includes a shortened version of your title, but DOES NOT include your name.
Please follow current (6th edition) MLA format for citations. For archival materials, please use the following:
Author last name, first name. “Title of Material.” [Description of material; include Day, Month, Year if relevant]. Name of Collection (Call number, Box number, File name or number, etc.). Name of Repository, Location. Repository URL or Finding Aid.
